So I wanted to allude to the natural healing process with the leaf/wood textures, and I am thnking about putting some tribal designs on the wood as if they are engraved into it. Sort of an allusion to the tattooing process... This is a really rough draft on the box, and I am not certain I will pursue the vegetation thing, but I sort of like the way it plays together and with some tweaks I think it could be pretty gender-neutral. The second idea I am playing around with was to make each side of the box a photo of a different tattooed body part with stock images. Maybe an arm, a shoulder, an ankle, and just have the tattoo be the focus. I'm sort of staying away from that concept though because a lot of the images are very different qualities, and I think it would turn out kind of obvious.

For the design I posted, I am definitely working on changing up the center piece and the placement of the logo. Also I know the text is different colors, I wanted to see how it looked without having to make duplicate images. I might also use a different wood texture, maybe something more oriental to relate back to the black lotus name.

heyyyy veronica!

i actually really like the design with the vegetation. i like how it wraps around the box so it keeps your eyes moving. and it has a clean, fresh feel as well.

the thing im not crazy about with the wood design is that its somewhat plain? but i know you said you would add certain tribal patterns and stuff to it so that would def spice it up!

and another thing im seeing right now is on the vegetation designs how you have the words "protect" and "heal" written across the leaves. i feel like its not working as strongly as it could. maybe if they curved more with the leaf shape.... or if it was just placed somewhere entirely different like they are in the other designs?

anyways, awesome job :) see ya tuesday!

Hey Veronica,

I think that the 2nd design is working out really well! I agree with Danielle though about making the words stand out a little bit stronger. Excited to see your final product!

hi veronica!

i realy like the design with the leaves and think you should stay away from the idea with the different tattoo-pictures.

i am not sure yet if i like the woodbox. if you stay with it you def should add something. but i would suggest doing engraved leaves into it instead of tribal patterns. or a well done combination of both.

for the salve i like the first design of the cab better. i also think the idea of the letters on the leaves is good, but it could work better with following the structure of the leave, as danielle already pointed out.

for the suncream, i like both designs and would like to see how they work wrapped around to decide with which to go :)

have a good start into the week! eva

The first "Heal" design with the leaves is the best one, I think. I really like the placement of "heal"compared to the others. I'd stay away from putting the words in the leaves. It's too hard to read if it's black, and I don't know if it works if it's white. I think it looks much more sophisticated between the leaves anyway.

I do really like the circle with the single leaf (2nd one in first leaf image). I think the single leaf really adds something, but I think it would be best to combine it with the centered design above it where the fonts and the logo all seem to fit very well together. I wonder where else you could put the leaf though.

I think the text on the wooden-pattern boxes could use work. Something about it just doesn't work for me. I'm not sure if it's the font or what.

Veronica,

I would avoid including pictures of tattoos…unless you can show quite a few. You just don't want to try and summarize the many types of tattoos people get with a few limited shots. I would, for the same reason, avoid using tribal patterns as well. I think Eva's suggestion about engraving the leaf imagery makes more sense because it relates to your branding and not a genre of rather generic, stereotypical tattoo design. I'd leave the type out of the leaves, and work to create interesting compositions between the leaves and the type that you're using.
