Alright, so for my digital roughs I have a make-shift design of what the front of my packaging would look like. I have all the materials, etc to create it. The overall concept is to mimic a can of spray paint. I'm using a telescoping tube for the box and coloring the lid part with the color that corresponds to the wine inside- since I'm only making one box (for the Merlot), it's going to be burgundy. The bottom part of the package will be white... I know it looks gray (not sure why)... but just try to imagine it white.

Some things to consider:

1.) The top part of the tube right now is metal (and I haven't tested how the color will transfer onto it yet).... soooo I'm debating whether or not to leave it metal, or color it. I feel like both could work because it would look more can-esque to be in full color but the metal could tie into an element I'm including on the wine bottle label itself. I showed how it would look on each of these roughs.

2.) Which label to use. I put the "Hello my name is...." and just a plain white one. I like the plain one better BUT I want to make sure it's recognizable enough.

3.) I'm still playing with the word "Tag" and the size and potential sans-serifness of it, etc. This is the general idea though- just keep in mind that it's obviously not the finished product.

4.) On the back, I'm considering whether or not to include a "WARNING: CONTENTS UNDER PRESSURE" label. It would be small and close to the bottom of the package. That guy down there is what I'm thinking. Thoughts?

Hey Danielle,
First of all, very cool concept. I really like where you are taking this and the cohesiveness of your idea. I really like the spray can connection to the packaging. The only thing I would watch out for: The red and white kinda reminded me of a cigarette when I first saw it on the blog. I’m sure the metal “cap” will help distinguish that, but something to consider. In terms of the logo – the plain one works better. I think the “My Name is ..” is something definitely best reserved for the bottles. And in terms of the warning graphic, I would use it. I would try making the packaging look as similar to a spray paint can as possible. From my perspective, seeing something like a spray paint can in the alcohol section of the store would really take me off guard and intrigue me to learn more. Good job so far.

I have to agree with Gil on this one. I think the more spray paint can it looks like, the more effective it will be. I like the plain white one best; maybe since the bottle will be white, try to do a very very very light tint of the cap color as a mini label? Or add some other color or something in there; I think all white might be too plain. Or maybe color the TAG part and leave the rest how it is. I dunno, just suggestions C= Keep it up!

hi danielle,

i can only agree with gils comment. First I like the plain one better and would use the "hello, my name is..."-tag only for the bottles themselves. The look of a spraycan for the box really goes well with the logo you designed and is a clever marketing idea. definitely use metal for the cab and i would consider to give the whole design rhythm by using it again as element in the logo, as you suggested.

overall, cool idea and very challenging regarding craftsmanship - but i am sure you will do just fine.

see you soon! :)

Danielle,

I think it's starting to come together. I'm in agreement with most of the previous comments, so I won't repeat. I'd consider changing the "contents under pressure" to something different. I like the reference to an actual can…but some people might think it's some sort of carbonated wine, or something. I'd consider if there are other elements you can add to make it feel more "authentic" without cluttering the package too much. Also, bring the "can" tomorrow, and we'll give you some thoughts about metal vs. paint.
