Gil Performance Roughs

The first poster is based off of a character named Malvolio who is a servant - He find a fake love note and thinks it is from his Master. It says that he must wear yellow cross-gartered stockings to prove his love to her. Therefore, the poster is a closeup of his hairy legs with the yellow cross gartered stockings
The second poster is based more off of the central conflict in the story - that there is a woman pretending to be a man who is stuck in a love triangle. The figure, based off of a Jack in a card deck, is similar to the Shakespearian style and has added feminine features along with a pronounced moustache (Which is the major disguise used to distinguish the character as a man). I added the hearts along the charcter as a sash to represent the three hearts involved in the love triangle.

hey gil!

i think both of your sketches are really great, but im leaning towards the first one. i feel like its a bit more unique than the other (it makes you look twice), which i think is awesome when the whole idea is to draw viewers to the poster.

i really like the type you sketched out- would it be handwritten like that? it looks pretty cool.

i like how you took a very old play and amped it up to modern times- i feel like this would cause any age to be interested in seeing it.

the only thing im hesitate about in the second one is that it kind of reminds me of a deck of cards. but that might be just me.. haha.

awesomely awesome jobbb!!!

Gil,

I really like both designs, but I like the bottom one the best. The top design is cool and definitely makes you look twice. Without your explanation however, I didn't know what it was. I think if you do decide to do that one, the coloring will help. I think the hand done type looks really cool if that's what you're using.Maybe put some sort of texture in that white space since there's quite a bit of it.

Hey Gil, I think both of these designs are great but the bottom one really grabs your attention. It's really clever too, my only advice would be make the feminine features stand out a bit more.

I agree that the bottom sketch is my favorite of the two. I think its more clear to as whats going on in the play as you describe the man stuck in a love triangle with the three hearts actually having a point to be there. Also really like the border inside the poster as it is pretty sweet looking
