rickardsj_roughs

The top left rough is based off the last rough. I wanted this one to be like a room without actually having the walls and such. There is a barber chair with a cape thing that will have small blood stains on it. The text was giving me issues.

The top right rough is basically the same thing; only it's a closer view of the chair and on the opposite side.

The 3rd rough is a close up of the barber chair. The curve of the S in Sweeney will be going across the neck of the chair as if it were slicing the neck of a client (it will probably be red).

The last rough was actually my first rough; it's the barber chair in a grungy room with an old window. The title will probably be red or maybe black in some sort of sketchy writing. I think I might make the chair bigger and closer to the viewer.

The reason I have 4 roughs is because I was having a lot of issues with my ideas and placement of things. As much help you can give would be amazing. Thanks!

Hey Jackie,

I really like the idea of the S in Sweeney cutting across theneck of the chair. The only problem i see is the info text on the right, I Luke it in the original sketch (in the notebook) because it's evenly spaced, which is a good design and might portray the method behind their killing, but you could play around with it to make it more interesting. Also, although I like the window a lot because of it's design and it grounds the image a bit, I think it could be distracting from everythig else and I like the white space without it. Maybe you can incorporate the window with just colors or texture and have it behind some text. I think you're on the right path here though!

hi jackie!

i like the idea to single out the chair with blood stains on it and put it in a creepy room. but i really feel that you can display the chair more prominent in a bigger closeup. i agree with veronica that the window should not distract from the main object who transports the message. so i would consider making it smaller.

the idea that the S of "Sweeny Todd" indicates how the people are getting murdered is good. you could even make it turn into a skalpell dripping blood so it gets more obvious that it is a barbers chair displayed. maybe even bring some typical utensiles used by a barber into the picture? what about blood smudged on the floor that is an indicator that someone has been pulled away after his throat was slit. i mean, there would be tremendous bloodloss if you murder someone like that. didn't he also have the big trunk that he stows a body in? maybe that could be in the end of the blood trail and standing in the back of the pic?

i feel like you can really work with the dark shadowy room and bright red blood-smudges.

i think i would also like a bigger title instead of a big date, place and venue.

see you soon :)
