Veronica Pencil Roughs Play Poster

The forest design is meant to focus on the creepy, 'evil' side of the musical, which I think works pretty well. My biggest problem with it is that the musical is really comedic (on purpose) and I dont know how to incorporate that feeling into the image. I plan on using a purple-blue-black color scheme but maybe I could change that up a little too.

I chose to explore the hand-type design because of it's simplicity, and because I think it really communicates the attitude of the play. I also uploaded a simply colored 'rough' of this design, as I would probably use a more square, cartoon-ish image for the hand, then a more realistic blood spatter in the background.

And finally, I put a 3rd, partially finished sketch of the third design - the one I actually like the most - because although I think this was a really strong image, I'm sort of afraid I won't be able to follow through with it.

Hey Veronica,
I really like your hand design and your chainsaw idea (It reminds me of the original Evil Dead posters). I think the chainsaw one is my favorite. It would be really cool to apply an early 80’s aesthetic to the poster. I don’t think you should worry about not being able to follow through with the overall idea – from the looks of your sketch it seems like you could make it work really well.

The poster of the forest is a really awesome and creepy poster – but I don’t get the comedic effect I think you are looking for. Also, it doesn’t allude to the idea of zombies as well as your other two ideas.

I like the hand idea because of its simplicity. I also think it is the most comedic of your ideas. The hand drawn font would work nicely, but I Think you would have to consider a way for the informative text in the bottom right corner to be better integrated into the poster overall. It seems a little out of place in the bottom there.
Good job overall!

Hey Veronica! All of your sketches are really great, the middle finger one is pretty awesome and definitely stands out. I think I can the 3rd sketch working out for you if you stick with it though!

I think when looking for the more comedic effect i would it would be the middle finger sketch. I think that is in a tie for the forest as the ones i like the most but with the forest i like the creepy side to it but dont know if i see the comedic effect either from looking at it right now. but im sure you could work something out.
