Todd South Pacific Roughs

For the first image I am using an image of a beautiful beach with an orange glow that is taking place at night. I want to burn the edges so it gives it the look of a war torn paradise. I am going to find an image of two lovers about to embrace and put their silhouettes on the left. All the information will be smaller and to the right besides the typeface called "Pauls South Pacific" which will be used for the title at the top left.

For the second image I am sticking with the who paradise at war idea, only this beach is very bright and takes place at the day time. I think the contrast makes it stand out more, however I feel the first image works out better which you will see in the digital rough in the future. Have a nice weekend :D

hay toddd!

okay question: would it be possible to have the second sketch take place at night? i feel like the arrangement of figures and type all work better in that one- but i really like the idea of giving everything a glowing effect.

this could look really vintage and awesome. i love the burnt edges idea SO MUCH. haha- its probably one of my favorite aspect of your design.

i also like the two humans frolicking around the beach. its really cute. and it seems like a nice element to include.

would it be possible to find a typeface that looks like an old postcard stamp for destinations? (i don't know if that makes sense.... this is KINDA what i mean.........http://www.zazzle.com/vintage+vacation+postcards........i think that would amplify the vintage war torn paradise theme you have.

awesomeeeeee job so far though!!!

I think I like the second one the best; but be careful cuz there's a lot going on in both of them.

I like the burnt edge thing and the placement of south pacific. Be careful of the other info being readable and not pushed off the poster since it's in a corner.

Also, I prefer the angles of the tress in the first sketch. Maybe use those instead?

noooo! danielle!! what did you do to me! now i am looking through vintage postcards (that are totally awesome) instead of studying for spanish...

todd - after looking through that stuff i really have to say that it would be an awesome idea to incorporate the style of these old postcards somehow. that would work nicer with a scene in daylight though... so far i am pretty curious how you will go on from that point.

thumbs up for the worn look through the ripped edges. you could even go farther and make it look old through those typical patterns of dried watersplashes, slightly rippeled parts... maybe i am getting carried away... haha

see you, gangsta :D

I like the idea of the first sketch, with the trees coming in at that angle. the worn edge feel would add to it a lot. And also adding the silhouettes of a couple would be good to add in
