i took pictures of my two roughs and because of that they seem to be a bit distorted. sry for that...
both posters are going to be very colorful and playful as mika is a colorful person himself. his music is inspired a lot by the music in the 70's and 80's.

the first poster plays with the letters in mika's name. i intended to make a "busy" background in contrast to the big MIKA in the lower half. in my thumbnail the lettercrowd in the background is a bit bigger and i think i will make them bigger in the final version again. from the left to the right the letters start to fall apart to guide the eye to the open, white space were the gig information is.

the second poster consists mainly of a variety of symbols. besides the outer frame, every chosen symbol has a reference to the artist and his life, values, music etc. for example he has been born in beirut, lebanon. therefore you can find the arabic letter for M (mika) at the beginning and a dove and halfcircle for the famous pigeon rock in beirut. it goes on with symbols for his family (small people), his birthdate (present and numbers), then the move to france, paris (eiffeltower, flag,...)...
have a good weekend! :)

I think both concepts are interesting. The top one is cool, but could be hard to read. The info gets smushed on the side, you might want to reconsider the position or the size of the stuff around it.
I like how different the second one is. I'd say be careful to not let the images over power MIKA and the info. Maybe make the images a light gray/change opacity to really make the MIKA and info stand out.
Hey Eva,
I really like both concepts that you came up with. I think the typographic nature of the first one is really appealing, and I especially like the way you have it leading the viewer’s eye to some of the very important information about the show. I like the way you have some of the letters in the “letter cluster” sideways and upside down. It might be nice to have more of the letters like that, since the majority seem to be right side up. Also, since you are leading the viewer to the show information, it would be nice for you to do more with that than just the text. It would be interesting to see what would happen if you had it going along the same angle as the letter A in the main MIKA, or having it in a more unique position.
I really like the idea behind your symbols for the second poster. I can tell you really thought through each one (and there certainly are a lot). I also think that the name MIKA is contrasted against the symbols enough that It really stands out. It will be interesting to see what color schemes you could apply to both posters.
Eva, the composition of both pieces is effective. I think you did a good job with the detail of the letters in the top image, and as the others said I would love to see what kind of color scheme you'd apply. Some suggestions would be to try adding another visual element to help break up all the text, maybe an image that somehow ties in with the song itself. This might also help distinguish the smaller event information from all the others letters.
The second image is definitely my favorite. All the different icons are very interesting because they are large enough to be recognizable but not too in your face about it. This also makes the text extremely eye catching. Some suggestions here would be to try and visually draw the viewers eye towards the text. This might be done through color, a gradient in the background, or you could try rearranging the icons so that draw diagonal lines towards the text. Otherwise I think this looks great!
