I chose Arcade Fire's song "Laika (Neighborhood #2)" Laika is the name of the first dog to be sent to the moon. For the first image im thinking I am going to have a dog that looks similar to Laika, or possibly my dog (If she'll let me put a fishbowl on her head" possibly hand drawn, in outer space. The background will consist of an altered image from outer space. I will use a typeface from online or I will hand draw it.
The second idea has Laika in a ship about to land on a moon. The dog will look more the one in the first sketch. The dog will be either be a hand drawn jack russell terrier, or my golden retriever McKenzie.

I like the first sketch better, and maybe making the shuttle just crashing/landing could be cool.
hayyy todd! i agree with kevin- i really like the first sketch. i think everything balances well. howeverrrrr, maybe you could play with where you put the venue/date info? ...just really to see if it could work in other places. other than that its awesome!
I think your first rough works the best. The placement of your text needs to be adjusted--I feel like it's all over the place. Maybe put the text on the body of the rocket? Then you can have those corners open to breathe a little since there is so much jammed into the other corners. **Also, if you can get a fish bowl on MaKenzie's head, please let me watch! hahaha

your first rough definitely is the better one. it's cool, that it tells a story and there is movement involved through the rocket. i love your idea of making an actual picture of your dog with a fishbowl on. i laughed out loud just imagining it.
for the composition i would alter the text. maybe get the name of the band on the rocket and make it stand out more.
