Gil Logo Ideas

So I changed my idea up a little bit. I'm still going to be doing packaging for a beverage, but I took out the "daytime" drink and am just doing a company that makes drinks for the morning and for the night. I'm calling it AMP to relate to the AM PM concept (I know Amp is an energy drink - there won't be any relation to that company).

The logo above is a circular arrow, indicating the cyclic nature of the drink/ cycle of the day. Also, the circle is somewhat similar to a water mark left by a beer bottle on a table, which is what the drinks would be packaged in. Also, the tagline relates to the musical connotations that go along with the word Amp.

This logo uses the idea of an arrow to keep going (again, relating back to the cycle of the day). And it also indicates that this particular drink will keep you going throughout any portion of your day. The arrow made by the negative space is similar to an idea I have for labeling around each bottle.

Hi Gil,

I am definitely in favor of the first design. I think the hand-drawn look of the circle gives the logo a more "rock n roll" feel, and the lettering/tagline relates to that. The second design is really clever, and I think making the M into an arrow is good, but the arrow is pointing down so it kind of contradicts the "amp it up" idea you're trying to get across. However, the more solid design of the second logo might transfer better onto a can or bottle or whatever, since it is a little more dynamic. I still think the first logo would work really well, though, and on the package you'll have plenty of room to pull the logo and package design together. You could also try playing around more with the size of the letters, maybe make the M even bigger, or more off balance like they're getting bumped around by a really loud amp. You might even be able to relate the circle design to the roundness of a speaker (I know amps are like.. trapezoids or something but I always imagine the speaker part as a bunch of circles)

Gil,both designs are awesome. My favorite is the first one tho. I feel that if the circle/arrow were to stand alone, it could be recognizable for your company, but together with the type make it complete. I like the roughness of the circle; it feels more appropriate for the explanation of your product.

Your second design is really cool, but I agree with Veronica, the arrow pointing downwards kinda feels like it's the opposite of what you want your drink to do. But I think the design is still working well...just maybe not for this direction.

hey gil-

my fav is your first design-hands down. i like that it references the cycle of a day, the mark of a can, and the energetic feel "amp" implies indicated by the arrow. so awesome.

the only thing is that the way the "m" in "amp" is larger and how the word "night" is lighter makes that area seem like its moving slightly... or not level with each other- maybe this is just me? haha idk. im not saying its bad at allllll. im just saying that if theres an area to take a double look at than thats probably it. otherwise it looks great.

niceeee job!!
see ya tuesday!!!

agreed with the first design. i like the cirle with the arrow a lot that fits your saying turns up your night. its working really well and i like the way the logo type is going too.and i think the first logo and moto going works better then the 2nd displayed.

I like the first one, it reminds me of turning up the volume dial on an actual amp

I would have to agree with all the other comments: the first one is stronger. Conceptually speaking, you've got a strong foundation there. However, visually speaking, I think the concept could shine through more. I would play on the cyclical nature of your concept more. And I'd consider having two versions of your mark that clearly identify which time of day they are referring to…but still feeling consistent enough to be the same mark.

Now here's my challenge…if you're up to it: pull off an ambigram, if you can. I think it's worth a shot…and even if it doesn't work as a "true" ambigram, the idea behind the ambigram could be the secret to your success here…
