Here are my basic ideas for logo's. I am still working on the type of them. I am leaning towards the second logo with a book draped over the globe almost looking like a house or store you can walk into, and need to work on the type parts more but its a start. Across the world books.

hi kevin!
good start. i like the logomarks you did, prefer the second one though. i feel that in the first the book is too prominent and hides the globe too much. Then, did you think about warping the logotext around the globe? it would make a nice reference to travelling around it and have a more dynamic element. i don't think you should go with either font you used in this roughs. for me travelling, the memories or prospect of it always is connected with strong feelings. therefore i would prefer something not too clean and straightforward like in the second example. the logotype of the first one goes into the right direction for me, but makes it look like out of the 90's, oldfashioned (and travelbooks should always be up to date)...
have a good weekend!
Hey Kevin,
I agree in that I like the direction of the second logo best. However, you could probably lose the stand that the globe is resting on. I like the concept that the book is literally across the world. In terms of the type, I think the first one references more of a diverse and cultural establishment while the second font is much more new/ contemporary looking. I personally like the more modern feel better (but I’m also a sucker for Helvetica). If you do end up going that route, I would make the logo mark smaller/ more proportional to the company name. Lookin’ good so far.
I think the globe and book together look like this is a logo for a school, or a text-book store. The concept is similar but I think it conveys “educational” in some ways. I agree that you should remove the stand. Also, if you’re going to have the word “books” typed out, maybe you could remove the book image and try to combine the font with the globe in some way. I like the bottom font, but I don’t think the top font is really chic enough for your business. Something bold and simple would probably work best here.
